S&D Coffee Re-Affirms Commitment to Sustainable Products
with Trip to
Colombia

S&D and Rainforest Alliance Use Trip to Experience Sustainable Farming First-Hand

Concord, N.C. – S&D Coffee executives recently toured coffee-growing regions of Colombia with representatives from the Colombian Federation and the Rainforest Alliance™.  The tour was used as a training opportunity for S&D as they visited Rainforest Alliance Certified farms to experience sustainable farming first-hand.

The group visited several different farms, observing their land and products, and meeting the farmers to discuss their practices. S&D has seen an increase in interest from its clients for “green” products that benefit both the land and the people who work it.  By purchasing beans from sustainable farms, S&D gives its clients and ultimately, consumers, the opportunity to take part in socially conscious practices.

S&D works closely with the Rainforest Alliance, an international non-profit environmental and sustainable development organization whose mission is to protect ecosystems and the people and wildlife who depend on them by changing land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior.  The Rainforest Alliance also guarantees good working conditions, fair wages to workers and access to medical facilities and schools for farm children.
