S&D Coffee Launches New Sustainable Coffee, Rainforest Select
Concord, NC – Today, national coffee manufacturer and roaster S&D Coffee, Inc. announces the launch of its newest sustainable coffee, Rainforest Select. Rainforest Select is a 30% blend of Rainforest Alliance Certified™ beans from Central America blended with Strictly High Grown 100% Arabica beans. Offered as part of S&D’s Premium Gold Line of coffees, Rainforest Select is a medium roasted coffee with a uniquely clean flavor, rich body and a pleasant lingering finish.
Rainforest Select beans are certified by Rainforest Alliance, an international non-profit environmental and sustainable development organization whose mission is to protect ecosystems and the people and wildlife that depend on them by changing land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. More than 45,000 farm families directly benefit from Rainforest Alliance certification, which also guarantees good working conditions, fair wages to workers, access to medical facilities and schools for farm children.
The Rainforest Alliance along with members of the Sustainable Agriculture Network – a consortium of nine environmental organizations based in the tropics – has set standards for the sustainable production of coffee.
